Welcome and thank you for being here!
I graduated medical school in 2004 and trained as an adult/pediatric anesthesiologist after which I worked in NY state from 2009-2021. I have also had a long-standing interest in death and the mystery surrounding it, and found many parallels between anesthesia and the dying process. In 2019 I pursued death doula training to broaden my understanding of how to be with the dying from a non-medical perspective. In 2020, at the onset of the pandemic I began facilitating virtual death cafes in an effort to help people process its traumatic impact. I continue to advocate for awareness and acceptance of death and dying, leading conversations on various online platforms when time permits. In 2022, after years of listening to a persistent calling, I completed training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and transitioned to Hospice medicine in Albany, NY.
Looking back at my life, I have always focused on wanting to make others feel better, and hold a deep interest in human development as well as a passion for expansion of our consciousness. As I’ve come to know my own soul through my own personal development using Reiki Master training, yoga, meditation as well as trauma therapy, this focus has shifted from a physical well-being to include and prioritize the mental and psycho-spiritual well-being of a human.
My interest in psychedelics started many years ago, over time further desiring to deepen my knowledge of them. During my palliative medicine training year, I had the opportunity to study these medicines and perform my own review of the existing research. I came to appreciate them as a powerful therapeutic adjunct for various mental disorders, and their benefit for existential distress that accompanies severe or terminal illness. I completed an eight-month long advanced psychedelic-assisted therapy certification in March 2024, and have had several of my own therapeutic experiences, including Ketamine. I believe that having a personal relationship with these medicines, contributes to the moral and ethical responsibility of effectively serving those who come to me for help. I have recently started my own collaborative practice with Ketamine-assisted therapy providers to assist all humans who may benefit, as well as continue to support the end-of-life/palliative care population through additional services and advocacy work.
Thank you for being here and best of luck on your journey! “Eventually you will come to understand that love heals everything, and love is all there is” —Gary Zukav.
